Kia launches Syros EV variant with BaaS; prices start at ₹13.49 lakh

Kia India has launched the Syros EV at a starting price of ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as the company’s second mass-market electric vehicle in India. The extended-range variant is priced from ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end X-Line Extended Range is priced at ₹19.99 lakh. The electric SUV will go on sale across Kia dealerships nationwide from July 30.

Alongside aggressive pricing, Kia is offering what it calls an industry-leading ownership package. Customers can opt for a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model that reduces the entry price to ₹7.99 lakh, with battery usage charged at ₹3.3 per kilometre. The Syros EV also comes with a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty of 15 years with unlimited kilometres for the first owner and an assured buyback programme offering up to 80% resale value after three years for eligible customers. Kia has also introduced the My Convenience e-Plus package, which combines maintenance, extended warranty and roadside assistance.

Performance and charging

The Syros EV is offered with two battery options: a 42 kWh pack delivering an ARAI-certified range of 443 km and a 51.4 kWh battery offering up to 526 km, making it the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500 km range mark. The SUV produces 171 PS and accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 8.1 seconds with the larger battery. It supports 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes, and also features a 10.8 kW onboard AC charger, battery conditioning, regenerative braking with i-Pedal mode, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) and Shift-by-Wire controls.

The company is also offering lifetime high voltage battery warranty of 15 years, with unlimited kilometres. It is also offering assured buyback programme, offering an introductory resale value up to 80% after 3 years. Customers can choose from 3 or 4-year tenures with flexible annual mileage options, and at the end of their chosen term can retain, return or replace their vehicle.

Exterior and interior features

On the outside, the Syros EV adopts Kia’s latest EV design language with Ice Cube MFR LED headlamps, Star Map LED daytime running lamps and tail lamps, digital Tiger Face styling, auto-flush door handles, 17-inch crystal-cut aero alloy wheels, gloss black skid plates, roof rails and EV-specific design elements.

Inside, the cabin features a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display that integrates the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and climate controls. Other highlights include Kia Connect 2.0 with over 95 connected features, OTA updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system, ventilated front and rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting, dual-camera dashcam, wireless phone charger, 100W USB-C charging, sliding and reclining rear seats, and a 16-litre front trunk.

On the safety front, the Syros EV comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS featuring 16 autonomous driving functions, including collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and lane following assist. Other features include a 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, parking collision avoidance, six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts and an electric parking brake with auto hold. Kia said the Syros EV will also have access to its K-Charge network, which integrates over 20,300 charging points across 23 charge point operators, supported by more than 129 dealerships with DC fast chargers and over 275 EV-ready workshops.
