The move underscores demand-led expansion strategy as existing manufacturing network runs near full capacity

Chennai-based Royal Enfield is set to acquire a land parcel in Tada (Tirupati), Andhra Pradesh, for a greenfield manufacturing facility as part of its next phase of capacity expansion. The company plans to invest approximately ₹2,500 crore in the project, which will be executed in phases, subject to approval from its board.
The move comes at a time when Royal Enfield’s existing manufacturing system is running close to peak utilisation, with installed capacity of around 14.6 lakh motorcycles per year. In February 2026, the company had announced a ₹958 crore expansion at Cheyyar in Tamil Nadu, which is expected to take its total manufacturing capacity to 20 lakh units annually once fully ramped up.
The Andhra Pradesh facility is aimed at easing capacity constraints and providing additional headroom for future demand growth. Royal Enfield currently operates four manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu and has steadily expanded output over the years to consolidate its position in the mid-size motorcycle segment (250cc–750cc), where it remains a global leader.
The phased investment structure indicates a calibrated expansion approach, with capacity additions aligned to utilisation levels and market demand rather than immediate large-scale commissioning.
The proposed facility marks a geographic diversification of Royal Enfield’s manufacturing footprint beyond Tamil Nadu, where its core production base is currently concentrated. The company has been gradually scaling its industrial presence to support both domestic demand and export growth.
Internationally, Royal Enfield operates seven CKD (completely knocked down) assembly units across Bangladesh, Nepal, Brazil (two units), Thailand, Argentina and Colombia. The company’s products are sold in more than 80 countries, supported by a retail network of over 3,200 stores globally. It also operates technical centres in Bruntingthorpe (UK) and Chennai, which support product development and engineering programmes.
B. Govindarajan, managing director – Eicher Motors Ltd. and chief executive officer – Royal Enfield, said the company continues to align its manufacturing strategy with long-term growth plans while staying connected to its rider community. He said the Andhra Pradesh investment will help augment capacity for the next phase of expansion and acknowledged the support of the state government in enabling the proposed project.
Royal Enfield said it already has over 100 retail and service outlets in Andhra Pradesh, generating more than 1,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The upcoming facility is expected to further strengthen the state’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem and add to industrial activity in the region.
