Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony today, Jeet Adani, director overseeing the Group's airports, digital, petrochemicals, copper and defence businesses, said the project marks "a historic first outside the public sector" and represents a major step in strengthening India's defence manufacturing capabilities.

The Adani Group will invest ₹2,500 crore over the next three years to build what it described as South Asia's largest private-sector missile ecosystem in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, a facility that will manufacture everything from raw materials to mission-ready missiles under one roof while creating 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony today, Jeet Adani, director overseeing the Group's airports, digital, petrochemicals, copper and defence businesses, said the project marks "a historic first outside the public sector" and represents a major step in strengthening India's defence manufacturing capabilities.
"This facility will bring raw materials and mission-ready missiles under one roof, a historic first outside the public sector. We are deeply honoured to bring this sovereign capability to Madhya Pradesh," he said.
"The state stands among the most powerful growth stories in our country right now. This momentum is the result of the decisive leadership of CM Dr Mohan Yadav ji, the sustained support of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia ji and the State government's relentless focus on infrastructure, industry and employment," he added.
The integrated missile ecosystem will manufacture medium to long range missile systems while also producing composite propellants, TNT and explosive-grade materials, reducing India's reliance on imported defence equipment. The project is expected to attract more than 50 MSMEs into a specialised defence supply chain, creating a manufacturing ecosystem around the facility.
Adani said the Shivpuri project builds on the group's growing defence manufacturing footprint in Madhya Pradesh. The company's Gwalior facility already manufactures its entire portfolio of light machine guns, assault rifles and carbines. According to him, Adani's Light Machine Gun programme has already delivered 2,000 units to the Indian Armed Forces, 11 months ahead of schedule.
"Shivpuri is the next giant leap in that journey as we bring a full-range, integrated missile ecosystem to manufacture medium to long-range missile systems, replacing foreign dependency with domestic power," he said.
The latest investment also adds to the Adani Group's broader commitments in Madhya Pradesh. At the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal last year, Chairman Gautam Adani pledged investments worth ₹1.1 lakh crore across hydro pumped storage, cement, mining, smart meters and thermal energy, with plans to generate 1.2 lakh jobs by 2030. Adani said every new project is a step towards fulfilling that commitment.
The group has already invested over ₹4,000 crore in its Ametha and Kymor plants in Katni district. It currently supplies 1,200 MW of power to the state and has another 5,600 MW under preparation. It has also commissioned wind energy projects in Lahori, Dhar, Ratlam and Ujjain and is preparing to lay the foundation for a cement plant in Ujjain. Just weeks ago, the company broke ground on a ₹1,060 crore cement unit in Guna, which Adani described as the district's largest-ever investment.
"These investments are not merely in plants and factories but in the people and the future of Madhya Pradesh. This progress also follows Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat," he said.
Calling the investments a reflection of both Madhya Pradesh's industrial momentum and the Centre's push for self-reliance, Jeet Adani said the group is working closely with the DRDO and the armed forces to promote indigenisation in defence manufacturing.
"Together, Gwalior and Shivpuri will stand as twin engines of defence innovation in Madhya Pradesh. They will ensure that the advanced systems protecting our skies are proudly built by Indian hands, on Indian soil," he concluded.
