Incident follows recent Tata Electronics ransomware disclosure, underscoring rising cyber risks for major Indian manufacturers as Bajaj Auto continues assessment with external security experts

Shares of Bajaj Auto fell more than 2% in today's session after the company disclosed a ransomware attack that impacted the systems of the automaker and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto Technology Ltd (BATL).
The stock was trading 2.34% lower, at ₹9,790 apiece at the time of reporting .
In an exchange filing, Bajaj Auto said the cyber security incident occurred on June 23, 2026, at around 8:00 a.m. IST. The company added that the incident involved a ransomware attack affecting its systems as well as those of BATL.
“Immediately upon becoming aware of the incident, the technical team of the Company along with cyber security experts and the management responded promptly and initiated necessary precautionary actions and protocols to mitigate the impact of this incident,” the company said.
According to the filing, the mitigation measures undertaken have been successful “based on the available information at this time”.
The company said the incident has been reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Bajaj Auto did not disclose the nature of the systems affected, whether any customer or business data had been compromised, or the extent of operational disruption caused by the attack. The company also did not provide details on the threat actor behind the ransomware incident or whether any ransom demand had been made.
“This disclosure is being made as a matter of good governance,” the company said in its filing.
Bajaj Auto said its technical team, management and cybersecurity experts continue to monitor the situation and implement necessary protocols to contain the impact of the incident. Further details are expected as the company’s assessment progresses.
Follows recent Tata Electronics cyberattack disclosure
The disclosure comes after Tata Electronics confirmed a ransomware attack and data breach affecting some of its IT assets. In a statement, Tata Electronics had said, “We recently experienced a ransomware incident that has impacted some of our IT assets. Our teams, along with external cybersecurity experts, are actively investigating the matter and taking necessary remedial actions.”
The incident drew attention because Tata Electronics is a key supplier to global technology companies including Apple. The company had said production and customer operations were not affected by the breach.
