Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), the defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has unveiled a new family of 155mm mounted artillery gun systems at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, marking its latest push into the global defence export market amid rising demand for highly mobile battlefield platforms.

The company introduced the MArG (Mounted Artillery Gun) series, comprising three variants — MArG 39, MArG 45 and MArG 52 — built on a common 4×4 wheeled platform. The systems are designed around 39-calibre, 45-calibre and 52-calibre gun configurations respectively, allowing armed forces to choose range and firepower capabilities while retaining commonality in logistics, maintenance and training.

Focus on mobility and lower logistics burden

The launch comes as militaries worldwide increasingly favour wheeled artillery platforms that offer faster deployment, lower operating costs and improved strategic mobility compared with heavier tracked systems. KSSL said the MArG series is engineered for rapid “shoot-and-scoot” operations, enabling units to fire and relocate before becoming vulnerable to counter-battery attacks.

According to the company, the systems can fire NATO-standard 155mm ammunition, including precision-guided munitions, and are intended for missions ranging from counter-battery operations to interdiction and fire support.

The MArG 39, the variant showcased at the exhibition, weighs 22 tonnes, can negotiate gradients of up to 25 degrees, carries 18 rounds of onboard ammunition and can be brought into action in about 1.5 minutes.
