Pune-based engineering major becomes the first Indian supplier of forged aerospace components for Embraer, strengthening India’s role in the global aviation manufacturing ecosystem

Pune-based Bharat Forge Limited has secured a long-term contract from Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer to manufacture and supply critical landing gear forgings, marking the Indian company’s entry into Embraer’s global aerospace supply chain for forged components.
The agreement makes Bharat Forge the first Indian supplier to provide forged aerospace components to Embraer, a development that comes amid increasing efforts by global aerospace companies to diversify sourcing and deepen manufacturing partnerships in India. The forged components will be used across Embraer’s commercial and defence aircraft programmes.
The contract further strengthens Bharat Forge’s aerospace vertical, which has emerged as a strategic diversification area for the company beyond its traditional automotive business. The company said the engagement will help scale up production of critical structural aerospace components, complementing its existing capabilities in aero engine components.
Amit B. Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said , "Becoming Embraer’s first Indian forged components supplier marks an important milestone for the company’s aerospace ambitions and reflects the manufacturing and engineering capabilities it has developed over the years. He said the partnership validates Bharat Forge’s ability to meet stringent global aerospace quality and certification standards while positioning the company for larger opportunities in the global aviation supply chain."
Kalyani added that the agreement is expected to create scale in the company’s structural aerospace components business and strengthen its long-term relationship with Embraer, particularly as global aircraft manufacturers increasingly look to build resilient and diversified sourcing networks.
For Embraer, the partnership aligns with its broader strategy to expand industrial engagement in India at a time when the country is positioning itself as a major aerospace and defence manufacturing hub. The aircraft maker said the agreement reflects its commitment to developing long-term value across the Indian aerospace supply chain.
Bharat Forge has been steadily expanding its aerospace capabilities through investments in forging, precision machining and sub-assembly integration for global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers.
The company operates manufacturing facilities across five countries and supplies engineered components to sectors including automotive, defence, oil and gas, railways and aviation. Recently, the company announced that it will acquire a 30% stake in Fortuna Engineering Private Limited for ₹129.6 crore.
