India thwarted another concerted attack on military stations at Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur using Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the international border in Jammu & Kashmir late on Thursday, according to Suneel Bartwal, public relations officer and spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Jammu and Kashmir.

Bartwal also posted on social media platform X that the threats were "swiftly neutralised" using "kinetic and non-kinetic" capabilities that were in line with the established standard operating procedures. "No casualties or material losses were reported," he added.

In the late hours of Thursday, reports emerged that Jammu's strategic and critical civil infrastructure was targeted by Pakistan—including the government university and the city's airport—with loitering munitions, and a complete blackout is being observed in the entire Jammu region. As per several news reports, a complete blackout was enforced in the Samba and Akhnoor regions of Jammu, and sirens were also heard.

Apart from this, a complete "blackout" had been enforced in Kishtwar in the Jammu division, and sirens were heard throughout the district, according to news agency ANI. Pakistan reportedly launched a fusillade of loitering munitions over Jammu.

The Indian armed forces intercepted most of these missiles, foiling Pakistan's plan to destroy critical civilian infrastructure.

The headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) confirmed, saying military stations of Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur in proximity to the International boundary in Jammu & Kashmir were targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. However, no losses have been reported. "Threat neutralised by #IndianArmedForces as per SoP with kinetic & non-kinetic means".

Indian security forces conducted high-precision air strikes under Operation Sindoor across nine different Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday. The government stated that these were the specific locations where attacks against India were planned and directed. The security forces have described their actions as focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature.

Despite India's measured, focussed, and responsible approach, which did not target Pakistani military establishments, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in northern and western India on Wednesday night. "These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations, which proves the Pakistani attacks," the government has said.

In response, the Indian Armed Forces targeted air defence radars and systems at several locations in Pakistan. "The Indian response has been in the same domain with the same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learned that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised."

U.S. expresses support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan

The Secretary emphasised the need for immediate de-escalation. He expressed U.S. support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications. The Secretary reiterated his condolences for the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism."
