Deloitte reappoints Romal Shetty as South Asia CEO for second term

Deloitte India and South Asia Partners have reappointed Romal Shetty as Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte South Asia for a second four-year term, effective April 1, 2027, extending his leadership as the professional services firm pushes ahead with its ambition to become India's largest professional services company by 2028.

The appointment follows a multi-month nomination process and an affirmation vote by the partnership. The decision was communicated to employees on Monday.

Shetty, who took over as CEO in April 2023, has overseen one of Deloitte India's fastest growth phases. During his first term, the firm emerged as the sixth-largest member firm in Deloitte's global network and the third-largest consulting practice worldwide after the United States and the United Kingdom.

In his second term, Shetty is expected to steer the firm's next phase of growth with a strategy focused on the "Business of Tomorrow". According to company sources, Deloitte will continue to invest in artificial intelligence-led transformation, platform-based innovation, managed services and industry-specific solutions. The firm also plans to deepen its presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities through its 'Project Bharat' initiative.

The company said it will further strengthen investments in digital capabilities, technology and talent while reshaping its business model to support long-term growth. It also aims to reinforce India's role as a global hub for innovation, product development, skilled talent and next-generation business solutions.

As CEO of Deloitte South Asia and a member of Deloitte's Global Executive Committee, Shetty brings nearly three decades of experience advising clients across more than 40 countries. His expertise spans corporate strategy, profitability improvement, restructuring, technology transformation and organisational change.

Before becoming CEO, Shetty played a key role in scaling Deloitte India's consulting business. Over the past five years, the consulting practice expanded from about 2,000 professionals to more than 10,000, making it the fastest-growing consulting business across Deloitte's global network.

Beyond the firm's commercial operations, Shetty has also supported several social initiatives in partnership with state governments, including programmes on anaemia prevention, healthcare, anti-erosion infrastructure and measures to address stubble burning. A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), he is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
