Godrej aims for 50% AC sales surge with smart tech and premium designs

As temperatures rise, air conditioning companies are ramping up production to meet growing demand and capitalise on a hotter-than-usual summer season. Anticipating strong sales this summer, Godrej Enterprises Group expects its air conditioner sales to grow by 50% in the coming fiscal year (FY2026). The company has launched a new range of products, including smart ACs, aiming to capture a 13% share of the air conditioning market by next year.

“The company expects 50% growth this fiscal, compared to the industry’s projected growth of 30-35%,” Kamal Nandi, Business Head & EVP at the Appliances Business of Godrej Enterprises Group, told reporters at a launch event in Delhi.

He further stated that Godrej’s market share has increased from 6.5% to 9.5-10% this year and is projected to reach 13% next year. Regarding expansion plans, he said the company has launched 135 exclusive brand outlets to cater to the demand for premium products.

The appliances business of Godrej & Boyce, part of the Godrej Enterprises Group, unveiled its new AC portfolio on Tuesday, featuring multiple capacities, tonnages, energy ratings, and technologies. Building on last year’s nature-inspired Vogue series, the brand has introduced new wood-finish ACs and a marble series to offer décor-friendly designs.

Additionally, the brand is expanding its consumer base by venturing into the commercial AC segment with Tower and Cassette ACs, designed to meet the needs of large residential and commercial spaces.

“Buoyed by our 2X growth in this category and the already rising temperatures, we are targeting a further 50% growth this summer,” Nandi said.

“Our new range of smart ACs goes beyond regular remote connectivity and voice commands, offering compelling, insightful solutions that enhance cooling performance and add real convenience,” he added.

The company has launched new smart ACs, starting at ₹42,900, which will be available across India through authorised stores and e-commerce platforms.

“With rising summer temperatures and a robust lineup of premium air conditioners, we aim to achieve over 50% growth in AC sales this summer compared to last year,” said Sabyasachi Gupta, Product Group Head – Air Conditioners at the Appliances Business of Godrej Enterprises Group.

He noted that consumers today seek a blend of style, performance, and smart features. “We are pleased to introduce our comprehensive new AC portfolio, catering to the varying needs of our consumers—offering high cooling capacities, superior energy ratings, AI-powered smart connectivity, and heavy-duty commercial ACs. The new smart AC range will be supported by a high-decibel marketing campaign.”
