New 10-kg composite LPG cylinder offers lightweight, translucent design; rollout begins in Bengaluru as HPCL taps quick commerce to widen LPG access.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) has partnered with Swiggy Instamart to launch HP Navya, its new-generation composite LPG cylinder brand, marking a significant step in the digital evolution of India's LPG distribution ecosystem. The service will debut as a pilot in Bengaluru, with HPCL planning a phased expansion to other cities, as the state-run oil marketing company looks to combine its extensive distribution network with the speed and convenience of quick commerce.
The partnership underscores the growing convergence of traditional energy distribution and quick commerce, a segment that has rapidly expanded beyond groceries to include electronics, medicines, beauty products and other essential household items. By bringing LPG cylinders onto Instamart, HPCL aims to enhance customer convenience while maintaining the safety and reliability standards associated with its HP Gas network.
HP Navya is a 10-kg composite LPG cylinder designed to cater to evolving urban lifestyles. Compared with conventional steel cylinders, the composite variant is lighter, corrosion-free and features a translucent body that allows users to monitor the remaining LPG level. The compact cylinder is targeted at apartments, small families, working professionals, students and households looking for a convenient secondary cooking gas connection.
"Customer needs are evolving, and HPCL is committed to provide innovative solutions to meet them. We are making LPG more accessible and convenient for Naya Bharat with focus on safety, trust and reliability that customers associate HP Gas with. HP Navya, our new Composite LPG Cylinder brand, reflects our commitment to delivering innovative energy solutions that make everyday life simpler and more convenient. Through the Instamart platform, we will be able to reach customers through a fast, convenient and digitally enabled platform, making HP Navya Composite LPG Cylinders more accessible while enhancing the overall customer experience," said Amit Garg, Director-Marketing, HPCL.
The launch highlights how India's quick commerce industry is broadening its addressable market beyond traditional grocery deliveries. Companies are increasingly leveraging dense last-mile delivery networks to enter high-frequency consumption categories that demand both convenience and reliability.
Commenting on the partnership, Amitesh Jha, CEO, Instamart, said, "Instamart has expanded its consumption use cases well beyond groceries to become part of everyday life. With HPCL, we're extending that convenience to an essential household service, bringing LPG onto Instamart while maintaining the safety and reliability standards consumers expect."
For HPCL, the launch of HP Navya reinforces its broader strategy of combining innovation with customer-centricity while strengthening digital engagement across its LPG business. Instamart, launched in August 2020, currently operates in more than 131 cities, providing rapid delivery of groceries and other daily essentials across India.
