The prime minister said trade and mobility agreements signed with several countries were opening up new avenues for young Indians, while large investments in modern infrastructure had boosted employment across construction-linked sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s demographic advantage, policy reforms and global engagement are creating expanding employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
“India is one of the youngest countries in the world, and it is the continuous effort of our government to create new opportunities for India’s youth, within the country and across the world,” Modi said while addressing beneficiaries during the distribution of appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela.
He said trade and mobility agreements signed with several countries were opening up new avenues for young Indians, while large investments in modern infrastructure had boosted employment across construction-linked sectors. “Because of unprecedented investments in infrastructure, employment has increased significantly in sectors related to construction,” he said.
Highlighting the start-up ecosystem, Modi said, “Today, there are about two lakh registered start-ups in the country, and more than 21 lakh youth are working in these.” He added that Digital India had created a new economy, with animation, digital media and the creator economy emerging as fast-growing employment generators.
On foreign investment, the Prime Minister said rising global confidence in India was translating into higher FDI inflows. “India is the only large economy in the world that has doubled its GDP in a decade,” he said, adding that FDI inflows over the last ten years were more than two-and-a-half times those in the preceding decade.
Modi said India’s manufacturing base had expanded rapidly across electronics, pharmaceuticals, defence and automobiles. “Since 2014, electronics manufacturing has increased six-fold to over ₹11 lakh crore, and electronics exports have crossed ₹4 lakh crore,” he said. Referring to domestic demand, he noted that “two-wheeler sales crossed two crore units in 2025, reflecting increased purchasing power.”
He said reforms such as GST and the new labour codes were aimed at improving ease of living and ease of doing business. “These reforms are benefiting young entrepreneurs, MSMEs, workers and employees, while strengthening social security,” Modi said.
Urging skill upgradation, Modi called on government employees to use platforms like iGOT Karmayogi. “About one-and-a-half crore government employees are already training themselves through this platform,” he said.
On women’s participation, Modi said over 8,000 women received appointment letters at the event. “In the past 11 years, women’s participation in the workforce has nearly doubled,” he said, adding that schemes such as Mudra and Start-up India had increased women’s self-employment and leadership across start-ups, MSMEs, cooperatives and self-help groups.
