The RIL Chairman & MD has not drawn any salary since FY21, according to its latest annual report.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani has chosen to draw no remuneration for the sixth consecutive year. He has not drawn any salary since FY21, according to the latest annual report. “This means no salary, no allowances, no perquisites, no retiral benefits, no commission, and no stock options for six years running,” said the company.
However, RIL has a market capitalisation of ₹18.26 lakh crore. The promoter wealth stands at ₹9.1 lakh crore based on RIL’s market value. In the last one year, the share price fell by 4.3%.
This voluntary foregoing of remuneration began in June 2020, when Ambani decided to give up his entire pay in light of the COVID-19 pandemic’s devastating impact on the nation’s social, economic, and industrial health. He continued this voluntary decision in the subsequent years.
Even before COVID, Ambani had voluntarily capped his total remuneration at ₹15 crore since FY09—a cap he maintained for 12 consecutive years regardless of the massive growth in revenues and profitability of Reliance during that period.
The company cited this as a striking example in today’s global corporate landscape, where excessive executive compensation is a major shareholder and governance concern.
In FY26, Reliance reported a consolidated net profit of ₹95,754 crore—its highest ever—and a market capitalisation of ₹18,19,103 crore ($191.8 billion).
