Oberoi Group unveils 'Elements by Oberoi' framework, pledges deepened commitment to sustainability

Guided by Earth, Water, and Air, the framework aims to minimise ecological impact through innovative practices like rainwater harvesting and solar power.

The Oberoi Group has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability via the group's environmental and social responsibility framework, which it says has taken the centre stage as the company scales. "In an age where conscious travel shapes global conversations, Elements by Oberoi represents the Group’s evolved sustainability vision, embedded in the Group’s operations and expanding to meet the needs of the planet, people, and future generations," a statement said.

Guided by life-sustaining elements, Earth, Water, and Air, the framework articulates the Group’s environment-first actions and sets forth goals to further reduce ecological impact, drive operational innovation, and uplift communities.

As per the key elements of the sustainability framework, the company says its hotels are designed to live in harmony with natural surroundings, from organic farming and waste-to-compost systems to sustainable landscaping and locally sourced ingredients.

To conserve water, the company deploys advanced rainwater harvesting techniques and zero liquid discharge systems for sustainable laundry operations. These practices also support marine conservation and responsible water usage across communities. To reduce its carbon footprint and embrace clean energy, smart systems, and air purification, the company utilises solar- and wind-powered operations, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and automated energy systems.

As part of its 2030 goals, The Oberoi Group aims to: recycle 100% of wastewater and reduce fresh water consumption per occupied room by 20%; source 50% of electricity from renewable energy; transition transport fleets to fully electric vehicles; and phase out fossil fuel-based thermal systems in favor of electric alternatives across all new hotels and while replacing equipment at its existing hotels.
