The latest cohort includes 5,000 undergraduate and 100 postgraduate scholars, chosen from more than 1.25 lakh applications. The announcement was made on the eve of Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani’s 93rd birth anniversary, a timing the foundation has often used to underline its focus on long-term nation building through education.

The selected students come from 15,544 institutes across 28 states and four Union Territories, reflecting the deep reach of the scholarship beyond top-tier urban campuses. The foundation said the cohort is part of its 2022 commitment to support 50,000 students over a decade. So far, 33,471 scholarships have been awarded.

Financial support remains central to the programme. Undergraduate scholars will receive grants of up to ₹2 lakh, while postgraduate scholars are eligible for up to ₹6 lakh. The data suggests a strong tilt towards need-based support: 83% of the selected students come from households with an annual income below ₹2.5 lakh.

Academic performance, however, has not taken a back seat. Among undergraduate scholars, 97% scored above 90% in their Class XII examinations. Gender representation is close to balanced, with women accounting for 48% of undergraduate awardees. The cohort also includes 146 scholars with disabilities, a detail the foundation highlighted as part of its inclusivity push.

The postgraduate scholarships are aimed squarely at advanced research and future-facing sectors. The 100 selected PG scholars are pursuing higher studies in areas such as artificial intelligence, computer science, renewable energy, and life sciences, fields seen as critical to India’s long-term technological and scientific capacity.

Beyond financial aid, the foundation positions the scholarship as a longer-term engagement. Scholars gain access to mentoring, leadership development programmes and a global alumni network. According to the foundation, past scholars have gone on to secure placements at leading global institutions and contribute to research and innovation.
