Ramachandran, who will report to Suzlon Group Chief Executive Officer Ajay Kapur, brings more than two decades of leadership experience across the energy, industrial products and mobility sectors, with stints spanning India, Southeast Asia and Australia. According to the company, he will also be designated as a Senior Managerial Personnel.

Scaling up for the next growth phase

The leadership appointment assumes significance as Suzlon pivots towards becoming a "wind-first full-stack renewable energy company" and seeks to capitalise on a rapidly expanding domestic market. India added a record 6.5 GW of wind energy capacity last year, and industry estimates suggest annual installations could rise to 13–15 GW in the coming years.

Before joining Suzlon, Ramachandran served as Chief Operating Officer and board member at JSW, where he helped drive the group's expansion from nearly 5 GW to 30 GW of capacity in about three years. Earlier, he spent a significant part of his career with Schindler Group, including as CEO and President for India and South Asia, where he led manufacturing, operations and R&D functions while tripling revenue from ₹1,000 crore to ₹3,000 crore.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said the next phase of growth in the wind sector would be defined by the industry's ability to scale. "India has now entered an accelerated growth pathway for wind energy. Ashok's deep expertise in execution-led transformation, operational scaling and building high-growth businesses will further strengthen Suzlon's leadership as we build the next era of renewable energy in India," he said.

Focus on execution and market expansion

CEO Ajay Kapur said Suzlon's role extends beyond maintaining market leadership to expanding the overall wind energy ecosystem. "We have delivered record annual installations for the industry, but the opportunity ahead is significantly larger. Ashok's execution-led leadership and operational expertise will help Suzlon raise the benchmark further for both the company and the wider renewable energy industry," he noted.

Ramachandran described Suzlon as one of India's most respected clean energy companies and said his focus would be on strengthening the company's market leadership through sharper execution, operational excellence, deeper customer engagement and scalable growth strategies.
