The company informed that this alliance fuels Uber’s global mission to go 100% emission-free by 2040. “The new fleet of 1,000 EVs will be available on Uber to cater to the growing preference for sustainable mobility choices in cities.”

The ride-hailing giant revealed that electric four-wheelers will soon hit the streets of Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai via the Uber platform. “Refex Green Mobility Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chennai-headquartered Refex Industries Limited and it operates under the brand Refex eVeelz.”

Speaking on the collaboration, Aditya Kapoor, Head, Supply and Electrification, Uber India and South Asia, said Uber is committed to accelerating the shift to zero-emission mobility in India. "This partnership with Refex eVeelz is a significant step in that direction. It strengthens our efforts to electrify urban transportation. We remain focused on removing barriers to EV adoption and driving the transition to a greener future through partnerships that will build a sustainable future for all.”

The company said with Uber Green, it is now cruising through Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. With just a tap, riders can summon an all-electric, zero-emission ride, no tailpipes, no fumes, just a clean journey. “Uber Green is already the most widely available on-demand mobility solution for no or low-emission rides globally, available in over 100 cities across 15 countries.”

In another recent update, Uber for Teens has started rolling out in India. It is designed for riders aged 13 to 17, allowing parents and guardians to set up teen accounts while keeping a watchful eye on every ride. This feature was first launched in the US in 2003.

With Uber for Teens, young riders can book their own trips while guardians can track rides in real time, set limits and tap into extra safety features. Another highlight of this feature is that every teen is paired with a top-rate, background-checked driver who’s rescreened annually. Every call between the driver and the teen can be recorded and reviewed by parents. Plus, once a ride is booked, the drop-off location is locked, preventing any modification from the driver’s end.
