Revenue grows 16%, cement sales volumes hit record quarterly level; margins ease marginally

Shares of UltraTech Cement climbed as much as 2.33% to an intraday high of ₹12,001 on Monday after the Aditya Birla Group flagship reported a strong set of first-quarter earnings, driven by robust volume growth and healthy demand across key markets.
The country's largest cement maker reported a 16.8% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹2,599 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with ₹2,226 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations rose 15.9% to ₹24,648 crore from ₹21,275 crore a year earlier.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 13.7% to ₹5,015 crore, while the EBITDA margin softened to 20.35% from 20.73% a year ago, reflecting a slight moderation in profitability despite strong revenue growth.
Despite strong double-digit growth in revenue and profitability, EBITDA margin eased marginally to 20.35% from 20.73% a year ago as revenue growth outpaced the increase in operating profit.
UltraTech's performance was led by higher sales volumes during the quarter. Consolidated grey cement sales volumes rose 12.2% year-on-year to 41.31 million tonnes, while revenues increased 16.3%, highlighting sustained demand from infrastructure and housing projects. The company said operating EBITDA per tonne improved to ₹1,214, up ₹16 per tonne from a year ago.
The company described the quarter as one of "robust growth in volume, revenues and profitability," underscoring its ability to grow faster than the broader industry. UltraTech accounted for 35% of the industry's grey cement volumes, 37% of revenues, and 39% of EBITDA during FY26, according to its investor presentation.
UltraTech continued to strengthen its manufacturing footprint during the quarter by commissioning 8.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of grey cement capacity, taking its total consolidated grey cement capacity to 205.5 MTPA. The company also expanded its distribution network to 5,802 UltraTech Building Solutions outlets, a 21% increase from a year ago.
On the sustainability front, renewable power capacity rose 35% year-on-year to 1.46 GW, with green power accounting for 45.6% of the company's energy mix. UltraTech also reduced its average lead distance to 360 km, improving logistics efficiency.
Commenting on the performance, the company said the quarter reflected "robust growth in volume, revenues and profitability," supported by healthy demand and continued execution of its expansion strategy. It added that its industry-leading scale continues to translate into "superior profitability and returns."
