The MoU will facilitate 10,000 job postings, aiming to integrate gig roles into the formal economy and improve youth employability through structured opportunities and AI-driven job matching.
Quick commerce delivery giant Zepto signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Labour & Employment for enhancing job opportunities as well as youth employability on the National Career Service (NCS) Portal. The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, in New Delhi.
“Strengthening of NCS portal through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other world-class digital tools in the near future will further enable job-seekers to identify opportunities tailored to their location requirements and respective qualifications,” the Union Minister said.
The MoU marks a major step in integrating platform economy opportunities with the government’s employment and skilling ecosystem. Zepto will provide 10,000 job postings during the MoU duration, creating a predictable and structured pipeline of urban employment opportunities for youth, women, and first-time job seekers. The partnership also creates a bridge to formalisation and upskilling, linking gig workers with e-Shram registration, social security schemes, and opportunities for future employability and protection.
The Union minister said the partnership would open a new window of opportunity for young people, while allowing Zepto to connect with a suitable talent pool of human resources. Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Vandana Gurnani, said the MoU would give a further impetus to enhancing formalisation and social security coverage. Highlighting the role of NCS as a comprehensive portal providing job-matching, career counselling and skilling facilities, she said, “This partnership will pave the way for generating secure, long-term, and quality employment.”
Kaivalya Vohra, Co-founder, Zepto, said it is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and skilled workforce for the new-age economy. “By connecting with NCS, we aim to provide thousands of gig and full-time opportunities, helping to empower India’s youth and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.”
The MoU with Zepto adds a new dimension to the ministry’s mission of connecting job seekers with opportunities in the platform economy, enabling dignified, tech-driven livelihoods and bringing gig and quick-commerce roles into the formal employment ecosystem.
Over the past year, the Ministry has signed MoUs with several key organisations, including Amazon, Swiggy, Rapido and Quikr Jobs. These partnerships have already mobilised nearly five lakh vacancies on the NCS portal, strengthening employment opportunities for the youth.
