Vaishnaw revealed that both the projects are expected to be completed within three years.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said the Union Cabinet has approved a railway and a highway project worth ₹7,500 crore in Bihar. Vaishnaw said the pace of construction of infrastructure in the country has become better.
"Two mega infrastructure projects have been approved by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in today's Cabinet meeting,” said Vaishnaw, during the cabinet briefing held on Wednesday.
“Construction of 4-lane greenfield access-controlled Mokama-Munger section of the Buxar-Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor in Bihar has been approved by the Cabinet,” Vaishnaw added.
“The Cabinet has approved the doubling of Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single railway line Section (177 km) in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal with total cost of about ₹3,169 crore," Vaishnaw added.
Vaishnaw revealed that both the projects are expected to be completed within three years.
“Both the projects will be completed in three years. The pace of both highways and railway construction has become better,” said Vaishnaw.
The Mokama-Munger section passes through or provides connectivity to important regional cities such as Mokama, Barahiya, Lakhisarai, Jamalpur, Munger connecting to Bhagalpur.
The 82.4 km project will be constructed on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), at a capital cost of ₹4,447.38 crore.
“The Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single railway line Section (177 km) will improve mobility, providing enhanced efficiency and service reliability for Indian Railways,” a government release stated.
“The multi-tracking proposal will ease operations and reduce congestion, providing the much-required infrastructural development on the busiest sections across Indian Railways,” the release added.
“The projects are planned on PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan with focus on enhancing multi-modal connectivity & logistic efficiency through integrated planning and stakeholder consultations. These projects will provide seamless connectivity for movement of people, goods, and services,” the release said.
