As of March 31, 2025, total disbursements under the RoDTEP scheme have crossed ₹57,976.78 crore, underscoring its significant role in supporting India's merchandise exports.

In a bid to boost India’s export competitiveness in global markets, the Centre has restored the benefits under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for exports made by Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Export-Oriented Units (EOUs), and units operating in Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The benefits will apply to all eligible exports made from June 1 onwards.
The benefits under RoDTEP for these categories were previously available until February 5, and their reinstatement is expected to provide a level playing field for exporters across sectors.
“The restoration of RoDTEP benefits to Advance Authorisation, EOU and SEZ exporters will not only ensure a level playing field for these entities but also boost the price competitiveness of their products in international markets. This is vital support at a time when Indian exporters are navigating intense global competition and demand uncertainties. It will certainly help in pushing exports and improving India’s share in global trade”, S C Ralhan, President, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), said.
Operational since January 1, 2021, the RoDTEP scheme is designed to reimburse exporters for embedded duties, taxes, and levies that are not otherwise refunded under any other existing scheme. It is compliant with World Trade Organisation (WTO) norms and is implemented via a comprehensive end-to-end digital platform to ensure transparency and efficiency.
As of March 31, 2025, total disbursements under the RoDTEP scheme have crossed ₹57,976.78 crore, underscoring its significant role in supporting India's merchandise exports.
For FY 2025–26, the Government has allocated ₹18,233 crore under the scheme. The support will cover 10,780 HS lines for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) exports and 10,795 HS lines for AA/EOU/SEZ exports, ensuring broad-based coverage for diverse sectors of the economy.
FIEO has requested the Government to consider making this restoration effective from February 7, to ensure no gap remains in RoDTEP coverage. As per the earlier notification, the existing RoDTEP benefits for these entities are applicable only up to February 6. The federation says a seamless transition would ensure stability and predictability for exporters and avoid any disruption in trade planning or pricing.
