FM to hold bilateral meetings

During her stay, Sitharaman is scheduled to call on Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and hold bilateral meetings with Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Minister for Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in finance, trade, and investment.

As part of her outreach to the innovation ecosystem, the minister will visit Oslo Science Park to interact with startups. Officials said the engagement will allow both sides to exchange views on entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, and investment opportunities.

A roundtable with Norwegian CEOs and investors

Sitharaman is also slated to hold a roundtable with Norwegian CEOs and investors to encourage greater capital flows and business partnerships. A separate interaction with members of the Indian diaspora has also been planned.

The Norway visit comes after Sitharaman’s trip to Munich, where she participated in the Munich Security Conference 2026. Addressing the ‘Degrees of Instability: Climate Security in a Warming World’ town hall, she highlighted India’s growing financial commitment to climate action.

"India has increased its commitment to climate action. We were at something like 3.7% of our GDP six years ago... but today, we are somewhere close to 5.6%. So more than doubled in a matter of six years," Sitharaman said during the townhall discussion. She stressed that India is investing its own resources to meet environmental targets rather than depending solely on global climate finance.

On the sidelines of the conference, Sitharaman also met Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, among other global leaders.

Officials said the Norway leg of the visit is likely to strengthen India’s engagement with its European partners, especially in areas including financial cooperation, green transition financing, trade expansion, and innovation-driven growth.
