Amaravati, which is the officially recognized and permanent capital city of Andhra Pradesh, now looking to deepen international investor engagement, with a high-level delegation from Singapore concluding a two-day visit to the city to assess the city's development roadmap, infrastructure progress and investment opportunities.

The delegation was briefed by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on Amaravati's master plan, ongoing infrastructure projects and the broader vision for the greenfield capital city.

According to an APCRDA statement issued on Tuesday, “The visit was aimed at providing the Singapore representatives with "first-hand insight into the city's development and investment potential."

It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh has reignited its ambition to build a world-class capital city, Amaravati, with a substantial investment of Rs 65,000 crore. After a five-year pause from 2019 to 2024, the construction has resumed under Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, aiming to transform Amaravati into an inclusive and sustainable urban city that attracts global talent and investment.

Focus on infrastructure pipeline

On the opening day of the visit, APCRDA officials made a detailed presentation at the authority's headquarters in Rayapudi, outlining the Amaravati Project, the city's master plan and the progress made in the development of the capital region.

The second day was dedicated to site inspections across key infrastructure assets. The delegation visited Shakhamuru Park, trunk infrastructure road projects, the Government Complex under construction, including the Secretariat Towers, Residential Bungalows, and the MLA and MLC Towers. During the visit, APCRDA officials briefed the visitors on the execution status of these projects and "highlighted the investment opportunities available in Amaravati," the statement said.

The Singapore delegation included representatives from the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), reflecting participation from academia, government and international development institutions.

The delegation comprised Yeo Siew Haip, Zhou Yimin and Lineswala Darshan Jayeshkumar from NUS; Francis Chong from Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry; and Tay Lian Chew and Nisha Sharda from the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.

Push to attract global investors

The visit comes as Andhra Pradesh steps up efforts to position Amaravati as an investment destination by showcasing its urban planning framework and large-scale infrastructure pipeline to international stakeholders. The city is being developed with a focus on integrated civic infrastructure, government institutions and urban amenities, while the state seeks to attract domestic and overseas investment into commercial, institutional and real estate projects.

According to APCRDA, the interaction enabled the delegation to gain a comprehensive understanding of Amaravati's development trajectory and the opportunities emerging from the capital city's ongoing infrastructure build-out.
