Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, in New Delhi on Thursday, with both leaders discussing ways to strengthen cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

President Stubb arrived in India on Wednesday for a four-day state visit and was received at the airport by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour.
This is Stubb’s first visit to India since assuming office as Finland’s President. During the visit, he is also scheduled to meet Droupadi Murmu, President of India, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will also call on the visiting dignitary.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met the Finnish President earlier in the day and welcomed the visit.
“Delighted to call on President Alexander Stubb of Finland today morning in Delhi,” Jaishankar said in a post on the social media platform X. He added that he was confident Stubb’s meeting with Prime Minister Modi would further strengthen India-Finland ties.
Jaishankar also said he looked forward to the Finnish leader’s address later in the evening at the Raisina Dialogue 2026.
President Stubb will be the chief guest and keynote speaker at the 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit aims to deepen bilateral engagement and expand cooperation in areas such as trade, technology and people-to-people ties.
India and Finland share a warm and friendly relationship rooted in shared democratic values, the ministry said, adding that Stubb’s visit is expected to impart fresh momentum to the partnership.
After completing engagements in the capital, the Finnish President will travel to Mumbai, where he will meet Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Maharashtra, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He is also scheduled to interact with business leaders and address students at the University of Mumbai as part of efforts to strengthen economic and academic cooperation between the two countries.
