New standard for digital infrastructure

The empanelment follows the introduction of the "Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations, 2024". This regulatory framework aims to ensure that modern buildings are equipped with robust, future-ready digital foundations. ICPL’s evaluations will focus on several critical technical parameters:

  • Fibre readiness: Assessing the backbone of high-speed data transmission

  • Mobile network performance: Evaluating signal strength and quality within buildings

  • In-building Wi-Fi infrastructure: Ensuring seamless wireless connectivity

  • Overall service performance: A comprehensive look at the end-user digital experience

  • Mandatory ratings

TRAI has also mandated that all central government buildings of public importance—including airports and railway stations—must undergo these digital connectivity ratings within one year of receiving their occupancy certification. ICPL will work closely with developers and enterprises to align these assessments with national digital priorities.

For the real estate sector, these ratings provide a standardised benchmark. A high digital connectivity rating is expected to add significant market value to properties, making them more attractive to tech-savvy buyers, premium tenants, and investors. By co-creating robust digital connectivity infrastructure (DCI), property managers can now offer verifiable proof of their building's technological capabilities.
