Breitling has recently expanded its portfolio of India-exclusive timepieces with the launch of two limited-edition versions of the Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 42. Available exclusively in the Indian market, the new models are powered by the manufacture Caliber B31 and are offered in two distinctive dial colours: a dark green edition limited to 100 pieces and a dark red edition limited to just 50 pieces.

Blending timeless coastal aesthetics with contemporary watchmaking precision, the Superocean Heritage remains one of Breitling’s most recognisable sea-inspired collections. Drawing on design cues from the 1950s, the collection has long embodied the brand’s ability to combine technical performance with refined elegance, transitioning effortlessly from open water to urban settings.

The origins of the Superocean Heritage can be traced back to 1957, when Breitling introduced the original Superocean chronograph -- regarded as the world’s first dive chronograph. Distinguished by its robust construction and dual-sealed pushers, the watch reflected the pioneering vision of Willy Breitling, who sought to push technical boundaries while expanding into new markets. Alongside the chronograph, Breitling also launched a time-only model, establishing the foundations of the collection that continues to evolve today.

Designed as much for life above the surface as for underwater exploration, the original models stood apart for their balance of functionality and style. Signature spear-and-arrow hands, a rotating bezel and streamlined proportions appealed to a generation captivated by both adventure and sophistication. That unique duality remains central to the identity of the Superocean Heritage.

Commenting on the launch, Pradeep Bhanot, Managing Director, Breitling India, said: “India is an increasingly important market for Breitling, with strong momentum driven by a new generation of luxury consumers. The Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 42 India Edition reflects this evolution, bringing together our design legacy with the technical advancement of our manufacture Caliber B31. With this limited edition, we continue to reinforce our long-term commitment to India while offering timepieces that resonate with the expectations of a highly engaged and discerning audience.”

The new India Editions retain the defining characteristics of the Superocean Heritage collection while introducing exclusive design details. Both watches feature a stainless-steel case accented with 18k red gold hands, indexes, crown and bezel, complemented by a black ceramic bezel insert for enhanced durability and scratch resistance. The dark green model is engraved “One of 100,” while the dark red version bears the inscription “One of 50,” underscoring their rarity.

Each timepiece is paired with a black mesh-rubber strap fitted with a folding clasp, ensuring both comfort and a secure, watertight fit. Through the transparent caseback, wearers can view the manufacture Caliber B31, Breitling’s proprietary time-and-date movement, which delivers approximately 78 hours of power reserve along with chronometer-certified precision.

Housed within a 42 mm case water resistant to 200 metres, the watches are equipped with a screw-down crown for dependable performance in demanding conditions. A discreet date display at six o’clock preserves the dial’s symmetry, while the collection’s hallmark arrow hour hand, spear minute hand and pointed indexes ensure excellent readability.

Created exclusively for the Indian market, the Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 42 India Editions cater to collectors and enthusiasts seeking a distinctive blend of heritage, craftsmanship and exclusivity. Combining retro-inspired design with modern engineering, they reaffirm the enduring appeal of Breitling’s iconic sea watch.
