As the festival of Diwali approaches, which is believed to bring prosperity and happiness, investors are gearing up for a new financial beginning through the eagerly awaited Diwali Muhurat trading session.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced a special Muhurat trading session for currency derivatives, which will be held on October 21, 2025, to mark the Diwali festival.

NSE, in its circular issued on September 22, 2025, shared the special timings for the  Muhurat trading. “Normal market open: 1:45 p.m. Normal market close: 2:45 p.m. Trade modification end: 2:55 p.m.,” NSE said.

The exchange clarified that all trades carried out on the Muhurat trading day will result in settlement obligations. 

Muhurat trading is a special, live trading session hosted by Indian stock exchanges on Diwali, typically lasting about an hour, which provides an auspicious moment for market participants to establish a prosperous investment year.
