The Covid-19 vaccination programme in India began with the first shot being given to a sanitation worker in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) premises, in the presence of Dr. Randeep Guleria, director, AIIMS, and the union health minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan.

The vaccination programme—touted to be the largest such exercise undertaken in India's history—is right now on the first phase, which would seek to target over 300,000 health workers across the country.

Fortune India's photo team visited one such session site in Gurugram where the vaccine was being administered.

The scene at this session site was one of order. Proper Covid-19 protocols were enforced and maintaining social distancing was mandatory. Here in this photo an aged health worker receives a shot.

A record of the beneficiaries was maintained, culled mainly through the Co-Win app, which was developed by the government especially for this vaccination programme.

A rigourous process to authenticate documents, cross verify it with the Co-Win app, to remove duplication errors, was carried out.
