The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the suspension of its online member and employer services by another day, delaying the restoration of key facilities, including online claim submission and passbook downloads.

According to the latest update issued by EPFO, online services are now expected to resume from 12:00 am on July 2, 2026, with maintenance work continuing until 11:59 pm on July 1.

The extension comes as EPFO continues a planned database consolidation and software upgrade of its claims processing system. The migration exercise, which began on June 26, is intended to improve processing efficiency, strengthen service delivery, and enhance the reliability and security of the retirement fund body’s digital infrastructure.

The maintenance was originally scheduled to conclude on June 28, with online services expected to restart on June 29. However, EPFO has revised the restoration timeline as work on the technology upgrade continues.

During the maintenance period, members and employers remain unable to access services through the Member Interface and Employer Interface, resulting in a temporary suspension of all digital services available through these platforms.

EPFO has also halted fresh online claim submissions and temporarily paused claim processing while the migration exercise is underway.

The disruption affects several key services, including online claim filing, passbook downloads, claim status tracking, transfer requests, profile and personal detail updates, and other facilities available through the EPFO Member Portal and the UMANG application.

Employers are similarly unable to access the Employer Interface to complete routine compliance and administrative functions.

EPFO said the upgrade is aimed at modernising its technology infrastructure through database consolidation and software enhancement to support a faster, more efficient and more secure claims processing system.

Earlier this year, the Central Board of Trustees (CBT), chaired by Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, approved retaining the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) interest rate at 8.25% for FY26, marking the third consecutive year with no change in the rate.

While the temporary disruption may affect members planning immediate transactions, EPFO expects the technology upgrade to improve the overall efficiency and user experience of its digital claims platform once services are restored.
