Apple has announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place from June 9 to June 13. The event will showcase upcoming versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, along with new developer tools. As in previous years, WWDC will be an online event open to all Apple developers, with an in-person keynote at Apple Park on June 9.

“Available for free to all developers, WWDC25 will spotlight the latest advancements in Apple software. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to supporting developers, the conference will provide them with unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features,” the company said in a press release.

WWDC 2025 is expected to showcase iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and the latest macOS update. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that iOS 19 will be “the biggest revamp since iOS 7,” introducing a redesigned interface with updated icons, menus, and buttons for consistency across Apple devices.

While WWDC primarily focuses on software, Apple has previously used the event to unveil new hardware, such as the Vision Pro and M2 chip in 2023. This year, potential announcements could include a refreshed Mac Pro and second-generation AirTags, both expected mid-year.

With significant software overhauls planned across iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, Apple’s keynote may also provide updates on AI-driven Siri improvements and other innovations. While Apple's AI ambitions have hit roadblocks, with senior executive Robby Walker calling the delays "ugly and embarrassing,” WWDC 2025 could bring a clearer AI strategy and a concrete timeline, possibly including the rumoured smart display impacted by Siri's setbacks. Reports suggest Siri’s advanced conversational features may be delayed until iOS 20. Additionally, Apple has restructured its AI division, replacing John Giannandrea with Vision Pro leader Mike Rockwell, signalling that the company's AI ambitions may be more limited than expected this time.
