Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, today announced the launch of JioFrames, a smart glass that is powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Ambani, who was speaking at the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, said that JioFrames would be an AI-powered wearable platform, that is 'made for India.' According to Ambani, the smart glass comes with a support for multiple Indian languages, and will enable the user to speak directly to Jio's AI voice-assistant.

"It is a hands-free, AI-powered companion designed for the way India lives, works, and plays. With JioFrames, you can capture your world like never before. Take HD photos, record videos or go live – every memory is instantly stored in Jio AI Cloud," Ambani said.

Last year, at the Indian Mobile Congress, these smart glasses were showcase by Jio, but there was no formal announcement about the launch then.

As per tech experts, the JioFrames derives its inspiration from Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, and Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg, as recently as July this year, had said that the real revolution in the wearables segment would be the arrival of smart glasses.

“If you don’t have glasses that have AI, you’re probably going to be at a pretty significant cognitive disadvantage compared to other people,” Zuckerberg had warned during the company's Q2 earnings call.
