AI summit to draw 10,000 attendees, showcase enterprise use-cases and power hiring momentum as Maharashtra sharpens its technology ambitions
Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday announced Mumbai Tech Week (MTW) 2026, underscoring the state’s growing ambition to position Mumbai as a key centre for artificial intelligence-led innovation and enterprise growth. The two-day event, scheduled for May 29-30 at the Jio World Convention Centre, is expected to bring together over 10,000 developers, founders, investors and technology professionals amid rising AI investments across India.
Organised by the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, the summit will revolve around the theme “India: AI in Action”, with a focus on practical deployment of AI across industries. Global technology companies including OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, Google Cloud and Neysa are set to participate, reflecting increasing interest in India’s expanding AI ecosystem.
The announcement comes at a time when Indian enterprises and startups are accelerating investments in AI infrastructure, automation and generative AI applications. Industry stakeholders believe Mumbai’s strong financial ecosystem, startup network and access to capital position the city favourably in India’s evolving technology landscape.
“As one of the most significant innovations of our time, AI is set to accelerate industries and economies,” Fadnavis said. “Mumbai already serves as India’s financial and commercial capital, and we believe it can also become a leading centre for AI-driven innovation and enterprise growth.”
Harsh Jain, co-chair and governing council member at TEAM, said the event aims to move beyond discussions around AI and focus on real economic outcomes emerging from the technology. “MTW 2026 is designed to demonstrate how AI is reshaping industries and creating economic opportunity, which is why Mumbai is the perfect home for it,” he said.
Apart from enterprise AI showcases, MTW 2026 will feature an AI-powered job fair involving more than 25 companies. Organisers expect the initiative to offer over 250 job opportunities and attract a talent pool exceeding 30,000 candidates, highlighting the sharp rise in demand for AI-skilled professionals.
The event will also host AI Excellence Awards 2026, an Early-Stage Startup Showcase, masterclasses and “Stories Unplugged” sessions featuring founders and technology leaders. In the lead-up to the summit, 14 satellite events are planned across Mumbai to deepen engagement among startups, investors and developers.
The participation of OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic and Google Cloud signals India’s increasing importance in the global AI race, particularly as companies expand investments in cloud infrastructure, enterprise AI tools and developer ecosystems.
TEAM, a non-profit industry body representing Mumbai’s technology ecosystem, includes founders and executives from companies such as Dream Sports, upGrad, GOQii, LoveLocal and Quantiphi.
With states competing to attract technology investments and digital talent, MTW 2026 is expected to become a key platform for Maharashtra to showcase its AI ambitions and strengthen Mumbai’s positioning in India’s fast-growing innovation economy.
