Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and semiconductor company Qualcomm have set up an Innovation Lab in Bengaluru, the IT services firm announced on Wednesday.
The lab will be focused on co-creating Edge AI and Software Defined Everything (SDx) solutions for enterprises.
SDx is an umbrella term that entails automation of IT infrastructure through software rather than rigid, hardware-centric methods.
“The TCS Innovation Lab in Bengaluru will serve as a space where advanced AI and connectivity meet real-world challenges. Together, we aim to develop solutions that are cost-effective, efficient, scalable, and tailored to the needs of enterprises looking to modernise and grow in a software-defined world,” said Savi Soin, Sr. Vice President & President, Qualcomm India.

Solutions will be hardware-agnostic, configurable, secure, and service-oriented, supporting autonomous decision-making and efficient process automation.
As part of the IoT-focused Bringing Life to Things Network, the lab comes with 5G private networks and advanced infrastructure to enable rapid prototyping, experimentation, and large-scale deployment of smart, scalable, and sustainable solutions.

A recent collaboration, under this initiative, saw the development of real-time smart visual anomaly detection for industrial inspections, achieving 90% accuracy using Qualcomm’s Edge AI-enabled devices.
