The airport operator said a small number of flights would be permitted to operate from the evening, urging travellers not to proceed to the airports unless they have been contacted directly by their airline with a confirmed departure time

Dubai’s aviation sector began a cautious return to operations on March 2, with Dubai Airports confirming a limited resumption of flights from both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).
The airport operator said a small number of flights would be permitted to operate from the evening, urging travellers not to proceed to the airports unless they have been contacted directly by their airline with a confirmed departure time.
Emirates announced it would begin operating a restricted schedule starting the evening of March 2, prioritising customers who had earlier bookings and those already rebooked onto the limited services.
The airline said affected passengers would be contacted directly and advised customers not to travel to the airport without prior notification. All other flights remain suspended until further notice as the situation continues to be assessed.
“The safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority,” Emirates said, adding that operational updates would be published on its website and official social media channels.
Emirates said passengers can rebook flights for travel on or before March 20, subject to availability. Customers who booked directly with the airline can use its support portal, while those who booked via travel agents must contact their respective agencies. Refund requests can also be submitted through the airline’s online portal.
Travellers have been urged to check flight status online and monitor email notifications for updates before heading to the airport. The airline also asked customers to ensure their contact details are updated via the “Manage Your Booking” section.
All city check-in points across Dubai remain temporarily closed until further notice.
Dubai Airports described the operating environment as dynamic, with continuous assessments underway. The gradual restart indicates the beginning of normalisation, though both the airport operator and airlines have stressed that services will scale up cautiously in line with operational and safety considerations.
