Iran agrees to highest-level nuclear inspections, claims Donald Trump  

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said Iran has agreed to highest-level nuclear inspections at its facilities following negotiations in Switzerland. Trump, however, warned that there would be no further talks if Tehran failed to honour the agreement.

“Iran has fully and completely agreed to highest level Nuclear inspections long into the future (Infinity!!!).  This will insure “Nuclear Honesty.” If they did not agree to this, there would be no further negotiations!,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. 

Trump also said he had agreed to allow the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical oil transit routes, to remain open and that no further naval blockade would be imposed for now.

"Based on this and other major concessions being made by Iran, I have agreed to allow the Hormuz Strait to remain OPEN, with no further Naval Blockade," he said.

However, he indicated that US naval assets would remain deployed in the region as a precautionary measure.

"All ships are remaining in place should it be necessary to reinstitute the Blockade, which seems, at this point, highly unlikely," Trump added.

Sanctions relief tied to humanitarian supplies

Trump further said that funds being released by the US Treasury under the sanctions relief framework would be placed in escrow accounts controlled by the US and used exclusively for humanitarian purchases.

“The Money and/or Sanctions that the U.S. Treasury is releasing goes into escrow, controlled by the U.S.A., and will be used for the purchase of food and medical supplies, exclusively from the United States," he said.

According to Trump, the supplies would include agricultural commodities such as corn, wheat and soybeans sourced from American farmers. He described the situation in Iran as a "humanitarian crisis" and said assistance was needed immediately.

"This is a humanitarian crisis, and I feel it is necessary to help, NOW, before it is too late," Trump said, adding that "Talks are going well."

On Monday, the US Treasury granted a 60-day sanctions waiver allowing the production, transportation and sale of Iranian crude oil, a central element of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Washington and Tehran on June 17. The decision comes after diplomatic talks held in Switzerland aimed at advancing a broader peace framework following weeks of heightened tensions in the region.
