A day ahead of the General Budget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Centre will stick to the tradition of introducing a vote on account ahead of Lok Sabha elections and a full-year budget will be tabled when a new government is formed. Stressing that India is scaling new heights of growth, Modi said the interim budget will set the guidance for the future.
"As you all know that when the election is near, the full budget is not tabled. Following the tradition, once the new government is formed, we will table the full budget. Setting the guidance, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the interim budget tomorrow," Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said in his message ahead of the commencement of the budget session of the parliament.

As India continues to be the world’s fastest-growing major economy, Fortune India presents its special issue on the nation’s Top 100 Billionaires. Curated in partnership with Waterfield Advisors, this year’s list reflects a slight decline in the number of dollar billionaires—from 185 to 182—even as the entry threshold for the Top 100 rose to ₹24,283 crore, up from ₹22,739 crore last year. From stalwarts like Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and the Mistry family, who continue to lead the list, to major gainers such as Sunil Mittal and Kumar Mangalam Birla, the issue goes beyond the numbers to explore the resilience, ambition, and strategic foresight that define India’s wealth creators. Expressing confidence in the Indian economy, Modi said, "I am confident that the nation is scaling new heights of growth and moving ahead. Indian growth is all inclusive."
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the interim budget tomorrow in the parliament. Once the general elections conclude in April-May, and a new government is formed, the full year budget will be tabled in July first week.
Ahead of the budget session, the Prime Minister also trained guns on the disruptive politics of the opposition parties and suggested the opposition MPs should contribute constructively and intellectually to the policy making debates in the Parliament.
"Those engaged in habitual disruptions and habitual compromise of the democratic values should self introspect. Sharp and valid criticism of the government done in a polite and civil manner will always be remembered by the electorates back in the constituencies. Budget session is an opportunity to resurrect and give valuable contributions," PM Modi said.
