Bihar Assembly Election Results: NDA nears 200-seat sweep as BJP, JD(U) race toward big win

The NDA, spearheaded by BJP and JD(U), is set for a major win in Bihar, leading in 193 seats. The opposition INDIA bloc is far behind. Despite the electoral success, the stock market is not reflecting the same positivity, with both Sensex and Nifty trading lower.

According to the ECI website, the BJP is ahead at 91 seats, while its alliance partner JD(U) is leading across 82 seats. The Congress party is leading on just four seats. 

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA in the Bihar Assembly Election is headed for a big win as the latest Election Commission of India (ECI) data shows it heading towards 200 mark, with both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) emerging as the dominant forces.

The latest trends show the ruling NDA is currently leading across 193 seats, easily surpassing the majority mark of 122, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI) data.

The opposition INDIA bloc, led by RJD and Congress, is currently trailing, with these parties securing the lead on 31 seats. The tally is set to change with some rounds of counting still left.

According to the ECI website, the BJP is ahead at 91 seats, while its alliance partner JD(U) is leading across 82 seats. It's another partner, LJP(RV), is currently leading on 21 seats, HAMS on five.

On the opposition side, the leading party, RJD, is ahead on 25 seats, while the Congress party is leading on just four seats. The Congress party, which contested on 61 seats, seems to be striking a winning rate of 10%, with a lead on just 4 seats.

Notably, the Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party has not been able to lead on any seat so far.

According to news agency PTI, the INDIA bloc's CM candidate Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD was leading in Raghopur, while Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary of the BJP was ahead in Tarapur. Another Deputy CM, Vijay Kumar Sinha, was leading in Lakhisarai, and JJD founder Tej Pratap Yadav was at the fourth spot in Mahua, with LJP(RV)'s Sanjay Kumar Singh leading in the seat, the news agency reported.

Meanwhile, despite a seemingly big win for the BJP-led NDA in Bihar assembly elections, markets are trading in red, with BSE benchmark Sensex at 375.28 points or 0.44% down at 84,103, while NSE Nifty trading 0.42% or 109.35% down at 25,762.65.
