Flipkart said on Tuesday that it has entered into partnerships with local MSMEs and small farmers in northeast India to strengthen its supply chain network. According to Flipkart, the northeast region is one of the fastest-growing markets for the e-commerce major, seeing 35–40% year-on-year growth.
The company highlighted that it has built over six lakh square feet of warehousing capacity in Guwahati. The warehouse comprises non-large, large, and grocery warehouses. In Tripura, Flipkart has recently launched a grocery fulfilment centre in Agartala, which can dispatch as many as 5,000 orders daily.
“The Northeast is one of India’s fastest-growing markets…As we head into the festive season, our expanded presence in the Northeast, including Assam, will bring speed, convenience, and festive joy to millions of customers, while creating livelihoods and strengthening regional entrepreneurship,” said Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer, Flipkart, in a statement.

Flipkart is also rapidly scaling its micro fulfilment centres (MFCs) under Flipkart Minutes. In Guwahati, nine MFCs are already live, with additional facilities in progress and a strong pipeline ahead of the festive season. In the northeast, Flipkart has a network of 391 small-format hubs, including 31 in Guwahati alone.
With the festive season imminent, Flipkart has created over 2.2 lakh additional seasonal job opportunities across warehousing, logistics, and last-mile delivery roles. This includes opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other underrepresented groups throughout its supply chain.
Assam has over a lakh sellers on the Flipkart marketplace, with categories like ethnic wear, grooming, footwear, kids’ apparel, and home furnishings emerging as top contributors.
Under Samarth Krishi, hundreds of farmers across Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh are supplying produce such as pineapples from the Garo Hills, strawberries from the Khasi Hills, Assam lemons, and baby kiwi from Bomdila to larger markets, including Ranchi, Patna, and Kolkata.
Flipkart continues to honour its target to transition to 100% electric vehicles for last-mile delivery by 2030. Over 2,000 distributors and retailers are participating in mobile exchange and trade-in programs as part of the Flipkart Reset programme. The Northeast contributes nearly 30% of Reset’s overall business.
