Sustainable travel gear brand uppercase is taking its association with ace cricketer Jasprit Bumrah to the next level by roping him as an investor after three years as its brand ambassador.
The company says Bumrah’s collaboration with uppercase began with his endorsement of its mission to create eco-conscious bags, and that now, as an investor, he is taking a more active role in shaping the brand.
Bumrah will co-create a signature product line. "Supporting brands that prioritise sustainability is essential for building a better future for our children and the generations to come," says Bumrah.
Sudip Ghose, Managing Director & Founder of uppercase, together with Bumrah, the company aims to blend "purpose, performance, and innovation in the world of travel".
The company has declined to share any further details about the cricketer's investment, saying it was confidential.
uppercase recently raised $9 million in a Series B funding round led by Accel. The brand is aiming to increase its presence from 1,600 points of sale to 4,000 across India, positioning itself as a key player in the ₹10,000 crore backpack market.
