Capgemini announced on October 1 that Ashwin Yardi, the current CEO of Capgemini in India, will retire from the Group and become non-executive Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2026. His retirement comes after completing seven years in the CEO role.
Sanjay Chalke, currently India's Chief Operating Officer (COO), will succeed Yardi on January 1, subject to the approval of shareholders and other regulatory requirements.
As per the statement, Ashwin, as non-executive Chairman, will focus on nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and will support Chalke in this transition. The latter will continue to reinforce Capgemini in India as a strategic backbone for client delivery excellence, talent and innovation.
Aiman Ezzat, Chief Executive Officer of Capgemini, commented, “Ashwin has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini’s industry leadership and talent in India. During his leadership, Capgemini in India has seen significant growth, expanding from 105,500 to nearly 180,000 team members. I am deeply grateful for his outstanding contributions throughout his 30-year career within the Group.”

Before this new role, Yardi was the CEO of Capgemini in India and a member of the Group Executive Committee since December 2018. Prior to that, he also held the role of COO of Capgemini in India and managed operations, delivery, capability development and Innovation across India.
Chalke was Executive Vice President and Head of Sogeti India at Capgemini. He also headed the Global SAP Business at DXC Technologies (formerly CSC), managing cross-functional global teams for key clients. He is also a member of the India Country Board (ICB).
