Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has commenced exports of its premium Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Victoris, marking a renewed push to strengthen its position in global passenger vehicle markets. The company has shipped over 450 units from the ports of Mundra and Pipavav, with the model to be sold internationally under the name ‘Across’, the automaker said on Thursday.
The Victoris exports will initially cater to more than 100 countries and regions, with Latin America, the Middle East and Africa identified as key focus markets. The move underlines Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to deepen its export footprint beyond traditional destinations, using India as a manufacturing base for global markets.
The export rollout comes at a time when Maruti Suzuki has significantly outperformed the broader industry in overseas shipments. In calendar year 2025, the company exported over 3.9 lakh vehicles, retaining its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year.
Between CY2020 and CY2025, Maruti Suzuki’s exports grew nearly 4.7 times, compared with an industry-wide growth of about 1.4 times over the same period. The company expects the addition of Victoris to further support its export volumes and product mix.

Analysts see the overseas launch of Victoris as part of Maruti Suzuki’s effort to move up the value chain, beyond the small and compact cars that have traditionally dominated India’s passenger vehicle exports. The SUV has secured a five-star safety rating from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP, a factor that could aid its acceptance in markets with stricter safety norms.
Victoris was also showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, indicating early efforts to build visibility for the model among global buyers and distributors.
The export push follows Maruti Suzuki’s recent re-entry into Europe with the launch of its first battery electric vehicle, the e Vitara, reflecting a broader strategy to diversify its global portfolio across powertrains and segments.
Introduced in India in September 2025, Victoris has emerged as one of the company’s higher-end offerings. Notably, this model has seen strong traction in the domestic market, with bookings crossing 70,000 by early January 2026, driven by demand for CNG and hybrid variants, resulting in waiting periods extending up to 10 weeks or more.
