In a major legal development in the spirits industry, Piccadily Agro Industries Ltd, in an exchange filing today, said that it has secured an interim injunction against rival Radico Khaitan over a trademark infringement case.
Piccadily says to protect its IP and rights, it approached the district court, Karnal, which upheld its rights on September 23, 2025, and granted an interim injunction restraining Radico Khaitan and its affiliates from manufacturing — selling, advertising, promoting, or otherwise using the mark “KASHMYR” — or anything deceptively similar trademarks “CASHMIR/CASHMERE, until final adjudication of the matter. Radico Khaitan has not issued any clarification to the stock exchanges on the matter so far.
“That we have filed a commercial suit in the District Court of Karnal bearing Commercial Suit No. CS/08/2025 on July 30, 2025, against Radico Khaitan Limited for their use of the infringing mark and/ or passing off ‘KASHMYR’ for the vodka products, which is similar to the Company’s registered trademark CASHMERE and CASHMIR,” the company said.

2025 is shaping up to be the year of electric car sales. In a first, India’s electric vehicles (EV) industry crossed the sales milestone of 100,000 units in FY25, fuelled by a slew of launches by major players, including Tata Motors, M&M, Ashok Leyland, JSW MG Motor, Hyundai, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. The company said the Karnal court ruled in its favour on September 23, 2025, and that its order restrains Radico Khaitan, its directors, and affiliates from manufacturing, selling, offering for sale, advertising and promoting or using the mark "KASHMYR" until the final adjudication.
Further, the court’s interim order also restrained the defendant from using deceptively similar mark like “CASHMIR” and “CASHMERE”, thereby preventing any passing off of the trademark or using any such mark that may result in unfair competition, dilution and violation of common law rights.
Piccadily says it had registered the trademark “CASHMERE” in 2015 for a luxury vodka product and subsequently secured registrations in overseas territories. In 2023, the company also registered the trademark “CASHMIR” with a slight change in spelling. Following this, the company launched its first luxury vodka under the brand “CASHMIR” on May 23, 2025.
“Following Piccadily’s launch, on 28th of July 2025, Radico Khaitan Limited launched a vodka under the brand 'KASHMYR," in the same category at a similar price point, which is phonetically similar to the Company’s registered marks and likely to cause consumer confusion,” the company alleges.
Shares of Radico Khaitan closed 0.23% up at ₹2,967.60 on the BSE today, while shares of Piccadily Agro closed 3.78% down at ₹713.05.
