Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries , has acquired a majority stake in Australia-based Goodness Group Global, marking its entry into one of the world’s most competitive packaged consumer markets and sharpening its focus on health-led beverages.
The acquisition gives RCPL control of brands such as Nexba, a low-sugar, gut-health focused beverage range, and PACE, a hydration drink co-created with Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins. While financial details were not disclosed, the deal signals Reliance’s intent to scale its consumer brands portfolio beyond West Asia and South Asia, where it already has a presence.
Australia represents a strategic next step for RCPL as it looks to build global brands rather than just export Indian products. At the same time, the partnership opens the door for Goodness Group’s brands to enter India, a market where demand for low-sugar and functional beverages is steadily rising.
“This strategic partnership is a bold step towards establishing RCPL as a global FMCG company from India,” said T. Krishnakumar, director at Reliance Consumer Products. He added that the inclusion of Nexba and PACE would strengthen Reliance’s health-focused beverage portfolio and allow the company to leverage its supply chain and distribution network to expand these brands across newer markets, including India.
For Goodness Group, the tie-up brings scale and access. Founded by entrepreneur Troy Douglas, the Sydney-based company operates across Australia and 21 international markets, with a portfolio built around its proprietary plant-based sweetener, Goodsweet.
Douglas said the partnership with Reliance would accelerate the company’s global ambitions. “RCPL is one of the fastest growing players and a leading FMCG company. In RCPL, we have found an incredibly strong and sophisticated partner as part of our evolution as we become a global player in up to 50 western markets over the next five years,” he said.
Beyond Nexba and PACE, Goodness Group also owns protein beverage brand BISON and liquid breakfast range Good Brekkie, broadening Reliance’s exposure to functional nutrition categories.
The acquisition fits into a wider strategy at Reliance Consumer, which has been building a portfolio of affordable, health-oriented drinks, including zero-sugar carbonated beverages, fruit juices and herbal products. By acquiring an established Australian player rather than starting from scratch, Reliance is effectively buying both product credibility and market access.
As global consumers shift away from high-sugar drinks, the deal positions RCPL to compete in a category where growth is increasingly driven by health claims, clean labels and brand trust, rather than price alone.
