As the Global Capability Centre (GCC) boom continues in India, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), the country's largest IT services and consulting company, has launched a dedicated business unit focussed on building AI-native GCCs. The new unit, TCS Global Value & Innovation Centres (GVIC), will be led by TCS veteran Soumen Roy, who most recently served as Country Head for Canada. Roy will report directly to K. Krithivasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TCS. The new unit will focus on delivering end-to-end GCC solutions, helping global enterprises establish and scale AI-first capability centres.
With one in three Fortune 500 companies now operating a GCC in India and mid-market firms rapidly joining the trend, TCS’s new business unit aims to offer flexible, AI-native services across the entire GCC lifecycle.
“With TCS GVIC, we are bringing together TCS’ deep experience across the GCC lifecycle with our strengths in AI, engineering, talent, and operations to build high-impact, future-ready global centers that deliver sustained business value for clients,” Krithivasan said in a statement.
What TCS sees as its core proposition and differentiation is the Human + AI Operating Model, AI-ready data and cloud foundations, enterprise platforms, responsible AI framework, and co-innovation ecosystems that the company can offer to enterprises.
With the GCC sector projected to grow to $110 billion by 2030 according to Nasscom estimates, Indian IT services firms have been queuing up to build dedicated GCC practices. Earlier in November last year, Infosys unveiled its AI-first GCC model, offering end-to-end lifecycle support — from setup and talent strategy to AI-led transformation and other firms such as Wipro and LTIMindtree also looking to capture the opportunity through dedicated units. LTIMindtree launched its GCC-as-a-Service in mid-2025.
According to the latest report by Nasscom and Zinnov, India currently hosts 2,117 GCCs operating across 3,728 units employing around 2.36 million professionals as of FY26, with a total market revenue of $98.4 billion. The report also pointed at nearly half of all GCCs established since FY21 have been AI first in their approach.
