India's growth momentum intact despite global uncertainty, geopolitical instability: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India continues to maintain its growth momentum despite rising global uncertainty and geopolitical instability, while calling on states and the Centre to work together more closely to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047.
Addressing the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, Modi said, “The world is passing through a period of uncertainty and instability, yet India continues to move forward on its growth trajectory with confidence and determination. As India progresses towards achieving the vision of #ViksitBharat, our collective responsibility becomes even greater.”
The meeting, held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, brought together chief ministers, lieutenant governors, Union ministers and senior policymakers to deliberate on the theme, “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047.”
Highlighting the role of women in India's growth story, Modi said women-led development remains central to the country's long-term vision.
“Women-led development is a cornerstone of the vision of #ViksitBharat. From farming and startups to science and innovation, Nari Shakti is contributing across the domains. States should prioritise education, skilling, safety and empowerment of women to unlock their full potential and drive India's development journey,” he said.
Modi askes to leverage opportunities from FTAs
The Prime Minister also urged states to leverage opportunities emerging from India's expanding trade ties with the world. Referring to recently signed free trade agreements, he said, “India has signed Free Trade Agreements with many countries to create new opportunities for growth and exports. These agreements also present a significant opportunity for our MSMEs, enabling them to prepare for global markets by adhering to international standards and enhancing competitiveness.”
Modi further emphasised the importance of harnessing India's young population, describing the country's demographic advantage as a critical driver of future growth.
“India's demographic dividend is a historic opportunity that we cannot afford to lose. Creating the right ecosystem for our youth through quality education, demand-driven skilling and employment opportunities must remain a priority. Empowered youth will be the driving force behind our journey towards #ViksitBharat,” he said.
Ensuring economic progress translates into better outcomes
According to NITI Aayog, this year's discussions are focused on ensuring that economic progress translates into better outcomes for all citizens, irrespective of age, gender, region or socio-economic background.
The Inclusive Human Development Framework under discussion is built around four pillars: foundational human capital and future-ready skills; productive employment, entrepreneurship and decentralised growth; health, nutrition and well-being; and equity and dignity for all.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, chief ministers and lieutenant governors from across the country, as well as members of NITI Aayog, including its Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Among those present were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, along with several other state leaders.
