Marking Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson’s foray into the 440cc bike segment for the first time in India, the bookings for the Harley-DavidsonX440, which has been co-developed by both the auto giants, have started across the country today, July 4, from 4.40 PM onwards.

Customers will be able to book Harley-Davidson X440 online by visiting HarleyDavidsonx440.com, with a booking amount of ₹5,000. The motorbike can also be reserved at all Harley-Davidson dealerships and select Hero MotoCorp outlets across the country.

The motorcycle is available in three variants -- Denim, Vivid, and S -- at an introductory price of ₹2,29,000 for denim, ₹2,49,000 (vivid), and ₹2,69,000 (S), respectively. The deliveries of Harley-Davidson X440 will start from October 2023 onwards.

The Harley-Davidson X440 was unveiled at a ceremony at the state-of-the-art Hero Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) on July 3, 2023, by Niranjan Gupta, CEO, Hero MotoCorp, Pawan Munjal - Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp and Jochen Zeitz - Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Harley-Davidson.

As per Munjal, the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 is a "significant milestone" in the auto major's premium journey. "The motorcycle brings the best of the iconic Harley Davidson’s signature elements with the manufacturing expertise and trusted quality of Hero," he says.

Co-developed by Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson at the Hero CIT, the Harley-Davidson X440 will be manufactured at the company’s Garden Factory at Neemrana, in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan.

The Harley-Davidson X440 carries the DNA of the iconic Harley-Davidson brand with its distinctive design, all-metal body, and powerful engine. Hero claims the motorbike is "nimble and agile in traffic, yet supremely robust and comfortable over rough terrain".

The Harley-Davidson X440 boasts of the all-new 440cc oil-cooled, long-stroke BSVI and E20 compliant engine, a first for Hero MotoCorp. The engine punches a power output of 27 bhp and maximum torque of 38 NM. The company says the motorcycle generates 90% of its peak torque from as low as 2000rpm. The 6-speed transmission with optimised gearing allows for highway cruising and relaxed city commuting, says Hero.

In terms of rider ergonomics, the X440 wears a wide and flat handlebar and is comfortable during long rides. The company claims the motorcycle "offers great pillion comfort", with a flat-seat profile with adequate roominess and legroom and pillion grab-rails. The motorcycle has 320 mm front disc and 240 mm rear disc brakes. The dual-channel ABS also helps in braking stability and deceleration in varied surfaces. It has a combination of 18” front and 17” rear wheels, and 100/90 front and 140/70 rear wide tires.

Amid the development, HeroMotocorp stock surged 3.15% to ₹2,991 on the BSE today. The HeroMotocorp stock 2,992.90 has surged 5.84% in the past week, while it's up 4.25% in the last month. At the current share price, the auto giant commands a market cap of ₹59,772.64 crore.
