Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Wednesday revealed the price of its highly anticipated off-roader Jimny. The car, which will be available for deliveries starting today across NEXA showrooms, has a starting price of ₹12.74 lakh.

The Jimny (5-door) is available in Zeta and Alpha variants with automatic and manual transmission choices. The top variant of the car, Alpha automatic dual tone, is available for ₹15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The Zeta automatic variant costs ₹13.94 lakh. The car comes in seven colour options, including five monotone shades and two dual-tone options.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with a 1.5 litre petrol engine in 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. The Mahindra Thar rival offers a fuel efficiency of 16.94 kilometres per litre for 5-speed MT and 16.39 km/l for 4-speed AT.

All Jimny variants come with the standard features of six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist function, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Brake Limited Slip Differential, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, 3-point Emergency Locking Retractor Seatbelts, and Rear View Camera among others. It also has a 9 inches SmartPlay Pro+ that offers wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Jimny, which was originally launched in global markets in 1970, is powered by Suzuki's four-wheel drive technology. The carmaker claims its special 4WD transfer case lets a driver shift seamlessly from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive.

"We are privileged to introduce the legendary Jimny, a symbol of adventure, into the Indian market. With its timeless design and exceptional off-road capabilities powered by Suzuki's ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) technology, the Jimny has been breaking stereotypes for over 5 decades since its global debut in 1970. The launch of Jimny (5-door) marks an exhilarating milestone in our SUV portfolio and will play an important role in our goal of becoming the country’s largest SUV maker," says Hisashi Takeuchi, managing director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

India will serve as the mother plant for the Jimny (5-door). "India holds a significant position for Suzuki Motor Corporation not only as a domestic market but also as a global export base. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that India will proudly serve as the mother plant for the Jimny (5-door) and will be the first market for its launch. This truly reaffirms our commitment to Make-In-India for the world," Takeuchi says.

The interiors of the Jimny are optimised through a minimalistic design to avoid distractions so that the driver stays focussed, the carmaker claims. The dashboard and centre console has been designed to maximise the driver’s awareness of the angle of the car on undulated surfaces, it says.

Jimny can also be owned via Maruti Suzuki Subscribe at an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from ₹33,550.
