Auto major Toyota has unveiled the 2023 edition of Toyota Innova HyCross in India ahead of its launch in January next year. The new Toyota Innova HyCross can be booked online or by visiting the nearest dealership for ₹50,000. The company may reveal its final price during the Auto Expo in January 2023. The HyCross will come in two petrol versions -- G and GX -- and three petrol-hybrid versions -- VX, ZX and ZX (O).

Among rivals, Toyota, being an MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) doesn't have a direct competition in India. The company, however, continues to sell Toyota Crysta. Its rivals include Kia's Carens and Carnival, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700.

The new Innova HyCross is powered by a 5th generation self-charging strong hybrid electric system, with TNGA 2.0 litre 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a monocoque frame, with an e-drive sequential shift delivering a max power output of 137 kW (186 PS). Being a self-charging strong hybrid electric vehicle, the company claims the Innova HyCross can run 40% of the distance and 60% of the time in electric or zero-emission mode.

The MPV also comes with the option of a TNGA 2.0 litre 4-cylinder gasoline engine mated to a direct shift CVT (continuously variable transmission) in select grades, delivering an output of 128 kW (174 PS).

Performance features

The HyCross boasts of a self-charging strong hybrid electric vehicle that comes with a TNGA 2.0-litre engine, with Toyota Hybrid System (THS) and e-drive transmission, delivering a combined max power output of 137 kW (186 PS). The gasoline grade comes with a TNGA 2.0 litre engine, which can deliver an output of 128 kW (174 PS).

Exteriors & interiors

The HyCross sports a panoramic sunroof, a front grille with a gun-metal finish, automatic LED headlamps with auto high beam and a first in segment dual function daytime running light (DRL). In interior, key features are a paddle shift, powered ottoman 2nd-row seats, front ventilated seats, air conditioner (dual zone, front and rear zone), rear retractable sunshade, electrochromic inner rear view mirror and power back door.

Safety & infotainment

Among safety and infotainment features, the HyCross boasts dynamic radar, cruise control, lane trace assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitor, pre-collision system, and auto high beam. It has 6 SRS airbags, rear disc brakes, vehicle stability control(VSC) and hill start assist, electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold, antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution and panoramic view monitor with a back guide. For infotainment, the HyCross will have a connected 25.65 cm display audio with premium, JBL 9 speaker, including a subwoofer, and iConnect, a connected car technology by Toyota.

Colour options

The new Innova HyCross will be available in super white, platinum white pearl, silver metallic, attitude black mica, sparkling black pearl crystal shine, Avant Grade bronze metallic and blackish Ageha glass flake. The interiors come in black and with two new colours, chestnut & black and dark chestnut.
