Cabinet to hold two-day Chintan Shivir on Viksit Bharat@2047

The Council of Ministers will meet on September 23 and 24 for a two-day Chintan Shivir focused on the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, with discussions centred on reviewing ongoing work and identifying the next set of reforms and priorities.
The formal meeting of the Council of Ministers will take stock of the work underway across the government and deliberate on future planning, including new ideas, reforms, and policy priorities aimed at achieving the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision.
Eight discussions held so far on Viksit Bharat roadmap
The Viksit Bharat exercise has been underway since 2021, when 10 Sectoral Groups of Secretaries were constituted to prepare the Vision@2047 along with short- and long-term roadmaps. The exercise also involved extensive consultations with stakeholders.
Since then, the Council of Ministers has held eight presentations and discussions covering different aspects of Viksit Bharat@2047. The latest Chintan Shivir will take forward this process and bring together work being undertaken by the Groups of Secretaries, ministries and departments, the Cabinet Secretariat and NITI Aayog.
Focus on reforms, ease of living, and governance
The discussions will cover areas including reforms, ease of living, reduction of compliance requirements and other governance priorities, as the government reviews progress and considers the next phase of work towards the 2047 vision.
The September 23-24 discussions are not intended to be a standalone exercise. Further rounds of the Chintan Shivir are expected to be held in the coming days to continue deliberations on the roadmap for Viksit Bharat@2047.
There has also been speculation in political circles about a possible Cabinet reshuffle. However, there is no official confirmation linking the Chintan Shivir to any such exercise. The stated purpose of the two-day meeting is to review governance and implementation, assess ongoing work and discuss policy priorities for the coming period.
The Chintan Shivir will bring the Prime Minister and Cabinet ministers together for focused discussions on reforms, implementation, inter-ministerial coordination, and governance priorities, as part of the broader Viksit Bharat@2047 agenda.
