MahaCrimeOS AI—an AI and Azure-powered investigation platform developed by CyberEye in partnership with Microsoft and the Maharashtra Government’s Special Purpose Vehicle MARVEL, was unveiled today at the Microsoft AI Tour in Mumbai. The announcement was made by Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, and also met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the role of AI in safety and governance in the state.
Currently live in 23 Nagpur police stations, MahaCrimeOS AI was recognised by Fadnavis, who proposed its future expansion to all 1,100 police stations across Maharashtra.
Microsoft, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Government and its MARVEL initiative, is leveraging next-generation AI to tackle complex and evolving cybercrimes. This initiative serves as the need of the hour as the country faces a surge in cybercrime, with over 3.6 million incidents reported in 2024 as per the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
MahaCrimeOS AI is built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Microsoft Foundry, integrating advanced AI assistants, automated workflows, and secure cloud infrastructure. The platform enables instant case creation, multilingual data extraction, and contextual legal assistance, which would reduce manual effort and allow officers to focus on solving complex cybercrimes.
