Airports Authority of India

About

Currently managed by Vipin Kumar, Airports Authority of India (AAI) oversees 137 airports in India, out of which 24 are international airports, 10 are customs airports, 80 are domestic airports, and 23 are domestic civil enclaves at defence airfields. AAI provides air navigation services, airport services, fire services, and project services. Its operations are based on eastern, northeastern, northern, southern, and western regions. With ground installations at all of its airports, AAI ensures the safety of aircraft operations through Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) over the Indian Air Space and adjoining oceanic areas. AAI’s use of the Automatic Dependence Surveillance System (ADSS) to control air traffic over oceanic areas using satellites made India the first country in Southeast Asia to use such technology for effective air traffic control. Project GAGAN, AAI's collaboration with ISRO, will enable satellite-based navigation signals to achieve the navigational requirements of aircrafts.
